Harmonized System Commodity Data Base

The HS Commodity Data Base was developed by the World Customs Organization Secretariat to facilitate the use of the Harmonized System. It is designed to help the user assign the relevant HS code to a particular article, however it is merely intended as a guide and is not legally binding.

Disclaimer

Since the classification of an article depends on a number of technical and legal factors, the Data Base should not be regarded as a substitute for the basic texts, i.e., the Harmonized System and its Explanatory Notes. For example, it should be noted that chemicals classified in Chapters 28 and 29 are to be classified elsewhere when put up in measured doses or for retail sale: in Chapter 30 (medicaments), Chapter 37 (photographic use), Chapter 38 (pesticides), etc.

Be sure to check the composition, formulation, presentation, function, etc. of the product before deciding on its classification.
